Narmada is a one of the most religious river of the country India. It is not only a river but also it is an ethnic source of water according to the Hindu Mythology. Narmada has a name and importance in Hindu religion as like Ganga and Yamuna. Narmada is originated from a place of eastern Madhya Pradesh named Amarkantak. Narmada flows from Omkareshwar and Maheshwar. It is potentiality that this is the only river which flows from east side to the west side.
Narmada Jayanti is the day when people offered worship to the water of Narmada to worship the lord. It is the time to act ritual performances in front of the water. There is a saying that a worship of Narmada brings lots of peace and prosperity for people in their life. Amarkantak is famous for a ritual program at the time of Narmada Jayanti. Here people organize an Arti of the river. Jabalpur’s Gwarighat is popular for Maha Arti of Narmada River during Narmada Jayanti. On this day lakhs of the people lighted numenrious lamps in the water of river to make the prayer ritual. It is a sign of happiness and won over evils of life.
